I’m really excited to announce my latest crochet along – Mediterranean Summer. Its the official Deramores CAL, hosted on their site, designed by me and I’m just delighted with the design!
Inspired by my travels around the Mediterranean the blanket design reminds me of the sea, sun and the art of all the different civilisations that have called the Mediterranean home.
Three different square designs make up the bulk of the blanket with two of the squares featuring a sun design at the centre. There is a ripple section and band of little squares edged with arch motifs and little ‘sunbeams’. The finished blanket is edged with a pretty border to finish off.
The finished blanket size is 142cm x 180cm and the pattern comes in both US and UK crochet terminology. The skill level is Intermediate but would suit Adventurous Beginners too. There are cluster stitches, Front Post and Back Post stitches and some Standing Stitches. All the unusual stitches are fully explained and have step-by-step photographs to help you. Plus, keep on eye on my CAL page for helpful video tutorials.
Since the CAL finished in 2019 the pattern has been available in full. You can grab your copy here on my website.
Get the yarn
There are three colour packs to choose from; Storm, Aegean and Wild Herb. I haven’t settled on my favourite yet – have you? If you have head over to the Love Crafts website you can shop the yarns there – you’ll need the yarn list from the pattern. Or, if you are picking your own colours for the blanket, or just want to make a couple of the squares you can check out the Studio DK yarn range here.
Check out my CAL page for more infom videos and photos of the Mediterranean Summer blanket and, as always, if you get stuck along the way just get in touch either through my contact form or email.
I’m so excited and hope you guys are too – just two weeks until the CAL starts – eeeek!!!!
