My first design of 2018 is A Fresh Start crochet square. The year has landed at WoolnHook HQ like a crack of ominous thunder and a sharp slap to cold cheeks. Feeling frayed around the edges and seeing only dark skies through my craft room window I fancied something springlike for my first concoction of the year. My hands delved into the wool stash and picked out fresh, bright, zingy spring colours to play with.
And here’s what I made…
Feeling somewhat spent I aimed for an easy pattern to get the year going – nothing too strenuous or complex – and came up with this lovely square design. It uses simple stitches and some cluster stitches. I’ve added step-by-step photos of how to work the cluster stitches to the pattern for you. There is a crochet symbol chart for those who prefer it and the pattern is available in both American and British crochet terms.
A Fresh Start crochet square – where to get the pattern
You can purchase the pattern along with one ball of each colour (enough to make about 20 squares) from love crochet . Or, you can click the links below to purchase the pattern only.
Do you like the spring colours? I hope you love the design and enjoy hooking some gorgeous squares to start the New Year. Lets hope it turns out to be a great year full of woolly makes and yarn stash additions! 🙂
Love all your designs Leonie. Have all your books. What treasures.
