Project: Ruby Rosanna Cot Blanket
I’ve just started a new crochet project – hurrah! I’m using my Rosanna crochet pattern to make a little cot blanket. The original block is worked all in one colour but, for this project, I’m working the petals in a lovely ruby red shade.
The yarn I’m using is Stylecraft Special Aran and I have to say, so far, I love it. Its 100% acrylic, so great for popping in the washing machine, and yet has a lovely soft feel. Its very easy to work with but I do wish there were a lot more colours to chose from! Despite the limited colour palette I can foresee lots more projects using this yarn – it’s just lovely and has a nice price tag too.
I’ve made a few blankets using this pattern and just love how squishy and tactile the flower is. I quite fancy making one in a dark, pewter grey with bright coloured flowers. The blocks work up nice and quickly with a 5.5mm (I) hook and aran weight yarn. You can also work the block in Worsted, Light Worsted or DK but the size will be a little different.
Project Details:
Pattern: Rosanna
Yarn: Stylecraft Special Aran in Cream and Lipstick
Hook: 5.5mm (I)
Ravelry Project: Ruby Rosanna Cot Blanket
Notes: To make the Rosanna Cot Blanket I’m making 30 blocks and joining them in 6 rows of 5 blocks.
Progress:
I’ve still a long way to go with this project so I’m ensconced on the sofa with Hubble, the cat, on my feet enjoying a bit of crochet, planning Christmas decoration patterns and recovering from my overenthusiastic jog in the pouring rain earlier. Hope you are enjoying some midweek crochet too.
This is lovely!
I absolutely love the red and white.
