I though I’d share one of my latest crochet projects with you as I’ve been a bit quiet lately working on some new designs. I recently made a massive greyscale African Flower Hexagon blanket & cushion as a custom order.
I’m sure you all know this pattern – its free! – as its such a pretty and really popular little design. I’ve seen loads of really colourful blankets using this pattern so when the customer requested greys I was curious to see how it would work out.
The blanket turned out absolutely gorgeous! I was sad to post it off to its new home!
The customer chose the yarn colours which were:
- Hayfield Bonus DK – Cream
- Hayfield Bonus DK – Light Grey Mix
- Stylecraft Special DK – Grey
- Sylecraft Special DK – Graphite
I made loads of hexagons (so many hexagons!!!) using the grey colours in random order and edged all of them in cream. As the customer wanted straight edges I made some half hexagons and filled in the edges on the pointy sides.
Then, I added a fancy border around to finish the blanket off…
And made a pretty cushion to match…
I’m so pleased with how this project turned out! If you’re interested in the join-as-you-go method I used, let me know in the comments below or send me a message, and if I get enough requests I’ll get a tutorial up for you all.
Hope you are working on happy crochet projects and getting close to a Ta Da! moment! If you haven’t tried this pattern before I do recommend it – it’s just lovely!
Happy Hooking!
